Ryan Lewenza, CFA, CMT Senior Portfolio Manager Private Client Group

Ryan Lewenza started his career 18 years ago at a major Canadian bank where he worked in various senior roles in sales and trading. As a trader of equities, fixed income and complex option strategies he has seen it all from the tough bear markets of 2000 and 2008, to the strong bull markets that preceded them. As a result of this invaluable market experience, Ryan has developed a strong understanding of risk, and why it’s critical to employ a diversified and long-term investment approach.

Ryan then transitioned into research focused positions covering preferred shares, equities, and more recently investment strategy. He has catapulted to the top of investment strategists on Bay Street, where for the last few years he has been the Chief Canadian Strategist for Raymond James Ltd. In this capacity, he was responsible for analyzing, forecasting and publishing research on the global economy and financial markets. He was Chair of Raymond James Ltd.’s Asset Allocation committee, where he was responsible for asset allocation decisions for the entire firm. Ryan has years of experience in managing equity and balanced funds, where he helped oversee portfolios in excess of $300 million, with the portfolios outperforming their benchmarks. Finally, he has established himself as a Canadian expert on the financial markets and wealth management topics through his many appearances on BNN, CNBC and Bloomberg, and has been quoted in various print publications.

Ryan has a unique investment approach by combining macro, fundamental and technical analysis in his strategic investment recommendations. He developed this unique approach through years of market experience and his extensive educational background. Ryan earned his Honours Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor, and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations. He is also registered as a Portfolio Manager.

Ryan’s primary responsibility at Turner Investments is to manage portfolios at the individual security level focusing on maintaining globally diversified and balanced investment portfolios, so clients' capital is both preserved and enhanced. He will also be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the practice, and continuously striving to improve all aspects of service for our clients.

When Ryan is not incessantly following and analyzing the capital markets, he is spending time with his lovely wife and rambunctious two young boys. Ryan lives in Toronto and believes strongly in giving back to his community by volunteering at various organizations like the Yonge Street Mission and annual Beaches clean up. He is also an avid runner and golfer, and when free time permits, likes to play guitar.
